Saint Thérèse of Lisieux

French Carmelite, Doctor of the Church, and teacher of the 'little way' of childlike trust.

Thérèse Martin was born in Alençon in 1873 and entered the Lisieux Carmel at fifteen.

She lived hidden and died young in 1897, leaving memoirs that reveal her spirituality of trust and love in small gestures.

She was proclaimed a Doctor of the Church and promised to keep doing good on earth — the 'shower of roses'.
