Before departing, the Church recommends entrusting the journey to God and asking protection from angels and saints.

Behold, St. Christopher, intercede for us and protect us in our travels.
O God, our heavenly Father, whose glory fills the whole creation, be with us as we travel. Preserve us from every danger and bring us safely to our journey's end.
